How Do Gibs Work?
Gibs are press components that guide the reciprocating motion of the ram to maintain superior squareness and parallelism throughout the stroke. They are designed to fit tightly into a corresponding slot or channel in the press frame, creating a precise sliding surface for the ram. Because gibs are fully adjustable left-to-right as well as front-to-back, you’re guaranteed to maintain precise tolerances for the life of your press. Beckwood offers gib-guided press systems with either 4-point or 8-point gibs and self-lubricating, graphite-impregnated bronze wear strips to provide the most precise level of ram guidance.
